Guardian of the Cusco region, Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Peru with its 6,384 meters of height. For centuries it has received many names, the best known being ‘The Roof of the Inca Capital’ and ‘Vinicunca’, which means ‘Hill of Colors’.
Located in the district of Pitumarca (in the province of Canchis – Cusco region, in the south of the country), Ausangate is considered the most important mountain of the Andean cosmovision.
A walk in those parts is a very special experience, combining the fact of being at such heights with the enjoyment of an outdoor activity and the contemplation of a visual wonder. between Flora and Fauna.
Pick up from your hostel between (03:30 – 04:00 am.) And start our tour in our tourist transport, for a period of 3 hrs. of trip where we will pass through several small towns like, Checacupe, Pitumarka is the (breakfast) continuing to the town of Chilca. Arriving at Quesoyuni (4,300 masl) where the guide will give you a brief talk.
Next, we will start our 8-kilometer hike that will last from 2 to 3 hours approximately, towards the Montaña Vinicunca (5,100 masl) also known as Cerro Colorado due to the variety of colors it has, in the surroundings we will have spectacular views of the Flora and Fauna, and of the imposing Apu Ausangate.
After the visit, we will begin our descending trek that will last 2 hours, until arriving at Quesoyuni instead of boarding the transport arriving to Pitumarka instead of our Lunch, and then continue the trip to the city of Cusco arriving at approximately 19:00 hrs.
